Premier Guided Grizzly Bear Hunts in Alaska.

These hunts take place in Alaska GMU 13, which has a huge population of bears. This unit is right on the classification line between brown bears and grizzly bears, so it’s technically a grizzly/brown bear hunt. Because of this, there is a wide spectrum of colors. Bears range from luminous blondes to rich, dark chocolates, squaring an average of 6.5 to 8.5 feet for grizzlies and 7.5 to 9.5 feet for brown bears.

This outfitter offers five different styles of grizzly bear hunts.

  1. Spring Baited Hunts
  2. Creekside Hunts During the King Salmon Run
  3. Spot-and-Stalk Hunts While the Bears are Feeding on Blueberries
  4. September Hunts Over Gut Piles Left by Moose Hunters
  5. River Float Hunts

Creekside Hunts During the King Salmon Run

You’ll be hunting for fishing bears along a creek with the 3rd largest inland King salmon run in Alaska.

Because this hunt’s success depends on the timing of the run, hunters must be on standby. When the fish show up, you’ll get a call and you’ll need to be there within three days.

Spot-and-Stalk Hunts While the Bears are Feeding on Blueberries

FALL BAITED Hunts

Hunt Grizzly Bears over gut piles left by moose hunters.

This is a highly successful hunt! There are so many bears in this area that NO gutpile ever goes uneaten. The moose guides will put a stake in the gutpiles with an orange ribbon attached. This allows the pilot to confirm bear activity from the air. When a ribbon gets knocked down, it’s time to go bear hunting!

LODGING: You could be staying in the lodge, a fully furnished cabin, a remote fly-in spike cabin or a tent depending on the situation and where moose hunters have been successful.

FOOD: Your meals will be a guide cooked breakfast, mountain meals at lunch, prepared in a JetBoil, and a guide cooked dinner after a long day hunting. These meals range from steak, burgers or even chicken and you will not be disappointed.

FLOAT Hunts

This is the Ultimate, Multi-day Grizzly Bear Hunting Cast-and-Blast Adventure!

You’ll fly 80 miles upriver to be dropped off, and then you and your guide will float down the river, camping in tents along the way to hunt or to fish.

At the end of your float, which will take you at least two days, you’ll stay in a cabin. At that point you’ll have the option to have the plane will pick you up to do it again if needed. This may just be the best grizzly bear hunt in Alaska!

TRAVEL INFORMATION

FLY TO ANCHORAGE, ALASKA (ANC)

Schedule your flight to arrive early on the day of your field departure, or the night before. Late arrivals may not allow sufficient time for transportation to the camp.

Airport Pickup: This is not included in the price of your hunt, however if you hire our preferred charter service, they will meet you in Anchorage to transport you to the Palmer airport.

Charter from Palmer to Base Camp: Be prepared for potential flight delays, weather can always be an issue in Alaska. Your charter pilot will prioritize safety and will not fly in risky conditions.

Bush Flight to Hunting Camp: This option may or may not be needed, depending on the style of hunt your choose. If a bush flight is needed, you will fly to and from camp via a float plane or a plane with tundra tires.

Departure Planning: Plan your departure from Anchorage for the day after your scheduled field extraction.

What You’ll Need to Bring

This gear list has been compiled from years of hunting all over Alaska as well as these specific hunting trips. It is designed to be tailored to your specific brand preferences to ensure that you don’t forget a critical item or bring too much unnecessary gear (space and weight is limited on fly in drop camp style hunts).

Alaska is one of the most beautiful, yet unforgiving places in North America due to it’s volatile weather. Temps in September can range anywhere from 50-60 degrees F as the highs and potentially single digits-teens during the cold fronts that come and go. While the norm is 30-50 in the early season and 20-40 in the late season, hunters MUST be prepared to hunt in the conditions presented. Expect wet and windy conditions at some point regardless.

Most areas for Moose in Alaska are “Wet” by Alaskan standards and hunters must have the proper equipment to hunt in the terrain Moose live in to be safe and successful. The most critical items on your gear list should be Waders, Boots, Freighter Pack, and Raingear. All else is secondary.
