At approximately 1,000,000 acres in size or about the size of the State of Rhode Island, the area is completely remote and accessible only by plane and as such has remained virtually untouched and unseen by people, meaning that you’ll be able to experience the wilds of Alaska in virtual solitude.

Hiking in Alaska

Hiking

One of the best ways to explore the remote and stunning Alaskan wilderness is on foot. Once you are dropped off at the start of your trip, you will have the opportunity to do endless hiking; travelling across the varied and remote Alaskan wilderness in areas rarely if at all traveled by anyone. Whether you choose to hike a high alpine pass, a river valley, along a lake shore or on the tundra, where you travel on this trip and the type of terrain and scenery you see will be yours to decide.

Camping

For some, camping means driving a motorhome to a paved campground or to a park and relaxing. That is NOT what you are going to find on this trip! This is a remote wilderness trip. Your accommodations, along with all your gear will be in your backpack. Once you step foot into the Alaskan wilderness and start hiking, you be able to decide where and for how long to set up camp. Whether your pleasure is camping from a single base camp along the shores of a clear mountain lake or backpacking across literally thousands of square miles of remote Alaskan wilderness; the choice is yours.  This trip will afford you the opportunity to create a trip suited to you – whether you are a seasoned or inexperienced wilderness traveler, this trip is your adventure to live.

Getting in some fishing

Fishing

On this trip should you choose, you will be able to see first-hand why Alaska is considered a World class, anglers paradise for trout, salmon, grayling, or dolly varden. Whether you choose to float down a meandering river fishing, or fish on a glacial mountain lake, the choice is your yours. If you want to spend a relaxing afternoon fishing from camp after a day of backpacking or if you are a seasoned fly fisherman; every day will afford you a new opportunity, all at your leisure, in total solitude and in a remote wilderness setting.

Paddling

The endless Alaskan rivers, lakes and streams serve to connect the Alaskan wilderness. And while the choice is yours, if you want a true complete Alaskan wilderness experience, traveling on the water is definite must, as the waterways of Alaska will allow you to move seamlessly through the Alaskan wilderness and afford you the opportunity of seeing the every changing Alaskan scenery and the abundant and varied wildlife all at a pace you choose. On this trip you will be paddling using pack rafts which you will be carry in your backpacks, which will afford you the best way to experience Alaska’s remote wilderness.

You’ll be led by an amazing group of highly knowledgeable pilots and guides.

Travel Information

  • All you need to do is get to Bethel, Alaska and we’ll take care of you from there!
  • Clients arrange their own flights into Anchorage and then onto Bethel, Alaska.
  • Once in Bethel Alaska you will be met at the airport by the outfitter and then you’ll board a float plane to start  your  Alaskan wilderness adventure.
