Kodiak Island Fishing Lodge
This high end Alaska fishing lodge on Kodiak Island that offers incredible halibut and salmon fishing.
Kodiak Island is a secluded fishing heaven and should be on every anglers bucket list. This area is ranked the #1 fishery in protected waters . The water near the lodge is rich with candle fish, herring, and other baitfish which are a staple food source for halibut, King salmon, Silver Salmon and Ling Cod. The fishing is only 15-45 minutes from the lodge and most days you will be fishing in calm shallow water making the fishing more intense.

You’ll bring home boxes of fresh fish!
Your catch will be processed on sight and frozen into fish boxes for you to bring home. After the day of fishing is over you will relax in the comfortable lodge and enjoy a cocktail and appetizers in front of the fire or hang out in the upstairs lounge trading fishing stories and looking at photos from the day. Enjoy a chef prepared dinner served with beer and wine before retiring to do it all over again the following day!
Over the next year you will enjoy some of the best tasting fish you have ever had and it will have been caught by you! The town of Old Harbor has a commercial fish smoker if you wish to have some of your salmon smoked.

Halibut Fishing Kodiak Island
Halibut are one of the largest fish in the sea and are prized table fare among many.
The cold Alaskan waters offer some of the finest fishing for halibut and the shallow waters off of Kodiak is some of the finest fishing. You can expect to catch halibut ranging from 30 to 100 pounds with the biggest ones of the year tipping the scales at 300 pounds!
Halibut are here all year but the best fishing is after June 1st. Fishing is done in water between 30-140 feet with light currents so less weight and lighter rods can be used. Bottom bait fishing, and jigging is the technique. While fishing for Halibut you can also catch rockfish (think fish tacos), ling cod, snapper, and bass. The ling cod in this area are some of the biggest you will ever see and you can specifically target these other species, just ask your guide!
Salmon Fishing Kodiak Island
King Salmon are one of the most prized catches in Alaska due to their massive size.
Though present year round the peak King Salmon season is from May 15 – July 15 as this is when most of the 30-60 pound beasts swim the local waters. The earlier part of the season is when most “Trophy” fish over 50 pounds are caught and guests have won the local king derby the past 3 years! The Kings are fished with downriggers and light tackle most of the fishing will be done by trolling.
Silver Salmon are most present from August to September 15. These 10-20 pound fish are aggressive fast swimmers. Fishing is done much the same way as fishing for the kings. You can load up your fish boxes during this season with arguably some of the best eating pacific salmon. After you catch your limit get ready for some halibut fishing!

Lodging and Accommodations
The fishing lodge has room for 16 guests while accommodating 12 per day on the fishing.
There are four single rooms with queen bed and five rooms with twin full beds. Each room has a private bath and daily maid service is provided. Lodge has a bar, dining room lounge, fireplace and upstairs lounge with satellite television and wireless internet. After an excellent day of fishing you can look over photos and swap stories with other anglers while enjoying a cocktail and appetizers in front of the fireplace.
Look forward to enjoying delicious meals in the spacious dining room. Outstanding Alaskan chefs prepare a wide variety of local cuisine for you to sample. This isn’t lodge food this is fine Alaskan cuisine!
Typical Daily Schedule
When you arrive at the lodge you will enjoy a chef prepared dinner and go through orientation. The following day is early breakfast and you will then hit the water at about 7:30 am. Fishing is typically 9 hours on the water and the day will consist of both halibut and salmon fishing. During your day snacks, drinks, and lunch served on board in the heated cabin. Your fish will be processed after your day and the processor will ensure to properly care for your fish and freeze them into your fish boxes for your travel home. Dinner and appetizers will be served at 5:30 pm. Hangout by the fire before heading off to bed and doing it all over again the next day!

*In August and early September Sitkalidak Island has good stream fishing for silvers. This is a 20 minute hike and then boat ride down river to the fish. This trip is done only by request and is an additional $150 for the native land fee. The fishing is done with either fly or spin gear.
The Fishing Guides
Professional Captains/Guides are all licensed through the coast guard.
The four fishing boats are all equipped with twin engines, large 8×8 open fishing area, a heated walk around cabin, inside cabin seating, full marine head, electronics, and all fishing gear. Fishing is 4 anglers per boat. If you have a smaller party (1-3 anglers) you might fish with another small group unless an open boat is available. This doesn’t affect your fishing and you will still be guided and have opportunity to catch all available species in any given day.

Travel Information
Arrival
Arrive into Kodiak City on one of the latest commercial flights around 4:30pm the first day of your trip. You will then either take a charter plane or the mail plane to the town of Old Harbor. This flight will be arranged by the outfitter after you schedule your commercial flight. This is about a 20 minute flight and offers a spectacular view of the ocean and island as you fly down the coast to the tiny village of Old Harbor. You will be picked up by our outfitter and drive a short distance to the lodge.
*Many guests choose to overnight in Anchorage or you can overnight in Kodiak and explore the town before your flight to Old Harbor.
Departure
You will depart the lodge at approx. 9am to fly back to Kodiak City on your last day. You will want to schedule your commercial flight out of Kodiak City no earlier than 11:00am.
*The Anchorage airport has a fish locker that can hold fish frozen if needed and some area hotels have this service as well if you plan any extra days in Anchorage after your fishing trip.
