Ireland Fallow Buck Hunt

Be one of the lucky few hunters to get the rare chance to stalk free-range fallow deer on this exclusive private island.

Imagine stalking through emerald hills and rugged cliffs on a private Irish island, where ancient castles overlook wild herds of Fallow deer roaming freely. This beautiful Island — a gem off the Dublin coast — offers one of the most exclusive deer hunting experiences in Europe. Here, free-range Fallow bucks thrive in a landscape of dramatic scenery, and historic charm. This special place is rarely accessible to outsiders, and offers something truly unique in Europe.

This hunt stands out for its privacy and success. Historical records show a 100% opportunity rate for Fallow buck, making it a reliable choice for trophy hunters seeking quality over quantity. Beyond the Fallow, the broader Ireland program includes stalking elusive Sika and majestic Red stag across scenic mainland estates — though Lambay remains the crown jewel for Fallow deer.

Exclusive Hunt on a Private Irish Island – Free Range Fallow Buck

Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime hunting experience on a secluded private island off the coast of Ireland. Surrounded by the ocean and steeped in ancient Celtic history, this exclusive destination offers discerning hunters an unrivaled opportunity to pursue majestic Fallow deer in a pristine and private location. Lambay is one of the largest privately owned Islands in NW Europe. This is a free-range hunt in a mixed landscape of open fields, and woodlands.

Your adventure begins with a short boat transfer to the island, where rolling green hills, woodlands, and dramatic coastal cliffs create a breathtaking natural backdrop. With no public access and a limited number of guests each season, the island provides a truly private and sustainable hunting environment.

Guided by seasoned local stalkers, you’ll hunt your quarry across the varied terrain. This is a spot and stalk style hunt with nearly 100% opportunity rates at representative bucks. The island’s free-ranging deer herd is carefully managed to ensure healthy populations and exceptional hunting. Make it a combo hunt and get the opportunity at both or go one step further and add Sika deer or Red Stag to your trip with a hunt on the Irish mainland. This is a completely customizable trip of a lifetime, and one of the more affordable in Europe.

Ireland was an Unforgettable Experience

Hunting Fallow buck on Lambay Island was an absolute game-changer for me. The private island felt like my own wilderness paradise, with stunning ocean views and herds of deer roaming freely. My guide was spot-on, helping me stalk a majestic spotted buck with palmated antlers in just a few hours.

The all-inclusive setup—cozy cottage, great meals, and even a boat ride over—made it seamless. If you’re looking for a European hunt that rivals anything in North America, this is it. I took my wife with me and we can’t wait to go back!

You’ll stay in cottages or a lodge with normal amenities. The lodge is reserved for large parties. The island runs on generators, but that doesn’t impact the usual comforts.

On the mainland, you’ll find predominantly B&Bs, which generally cost around $150/night, as well as some nice luxury hotels that can be $180+/night.

Fallow bucks can be hunted from August 1 – April 30, but not much hunting is done in August. Red and Sika Stags will be shedding in February/March, with Fallow bucks holding onto their antlers until early April.

Duck hunting season is from September 1 – January 31, while Pheasant, Woodcock, and Partridge are in season from November 1 – January 31.

Summer (June–August):

The warmest time of year with the longest days, averaging around 16–18 hours of daylight. Temperatures are mild, with average highs in the mid-60s to low 70s (°F). June and July are generally drier, though August can be more humid.

Autumn (September–November):

Temperatures begin to cool, ranging from the upper 40s to low/mid 60s (°F). These months often have a good balance of mild weather, fewer crowds, and lower prices than summer. November has shorter days and high chance of rainfall.

Winter (December–February):

The coldest months, with average highs in the 40s (°F). Expect high chance of rainfall and short daylight hours. While days can be crisp, cold and wet conditions are common.

Spring (March–May):

Temperatures gradually increase, with highs reaching the 50s (°F) in May. Daylight hours get longer, and the weather becomes milder. This is a good time for outdoor activities before the summer rush.

Historically, there’s been a 100% opportunity for hunting Fallow Buck on Lambay Island.

While it’s not overly physical hunt, being in good shape is always a plus. Your guide can accommodate the difficulty based on your abilities. Be prepared for the weather and terrain with proper gear.

Not planning for weather delays, forgetting rain gear, and not bringing enough local currency for rural areas can trip people up. Always be prepared for the unexpected.

I didn't think an experience like this was possible.

This trip, was, for me at least not just a trip, for me it was a real adventure, a real experience. I love the wilderness and this trip afforded me the opportunity to connect with the Alaskan wilderness in ways very few people do. It was an experience I will never forgot in a place I can’t wait to get back to.

The outfitter handled everything perfectly.

We were thankful that Outdoors International hooked us up with a great outfitter because they were able to find us an acceptable alternate on short notice. Overall the two year process to get this float in was seamless and worry free. Just like it should be.

Thank you, Stan Masneri
