You’ll be hunting 85 miles outside of Austin Texas, in the Brazos River bottoms. The perfect ecosystem for the invasive wild hog. This area is located is right between Central Texas and the Hill Country.

Nighttime hunting is extremely effective especially for the larger boars that typically don’t come out during the daylight. *Thermal/Night vision firearms can be rented if you do not have your own.

Travel Information

Fly into either Houston or Austin airport on the day of your hunt.

Hop in a rental car and drive to the ranch. Once at the ranch you will unpack and check the zero on your weapon, and hop in the stand for an evening/night hunt. You should plan on arriving at the ranch around 4:00 pm to have adequate time to prepare for an evening hunt.

The following day will consist of a morning and evening/night hunt, a good night’s sleep, and a morning hunt prior to heading back to the airport on your third day.

The ability to hunt well past dark really extends the hunting hours of this hunt. You will have no shortage of opportunities.

Pre-Trip Preparation

YEAR ROUND HUNTING SEASON

Season is year round and there is no one month that is better than the other. They are all excellent!

Texas has crazy weather and it can be freezing cold in December or blistering hot. Please check the weather for Caldwell, TX and pack accordingly.

Shooting

Practice with your equipment prior to your hunt!

If you’re a rifle hunter, we recommend something larger than a .223 if possible with jacketed or soft point bullets.

Archery hunters must use fixed blade broadheads.

  • We recommend bringing two pairs of clothes per day.

  • Boots (Snake proof is recommended)

  • Wild hog meat is amazing and is served in some of the finest restaurants across the world. So be sure to bring a cooler.
  • Knives
  • Broadheads. (Fixed heads only)
  • Rifle (We recommend something larger than a .223 if possible)
  • Bullets (jacketed or soft points penetrate best)
  • Pistol (Optional) Hog charges are a common occurrence. Especially when wounded.
  • Basic toiletries. (Soaps, towels, etc.)
