You’ll be hunting 85 miles outside of Austin Texas, in the Brazos River bottoms. The perfect ecosystem for the invasive wild hog. This area is located is right between Central Texas and the Hill Country.
Guaranteed opportunity, modern lodging, and more hogs per acre than anywhere else in the US. Catering to both archery and rifle hunters, this preserve style hunt consists of a mix of hunting styles ranging from fixed blinds, spot-and-stalk, and safari style hunting.
Nighttime hunting is extremely effective especially for the larger boars that typically don’t come out during the daylight. *Thermal/Night vision firearms can be rented if you do not have your own.
Of the 6.9 million hogs that have invaded the United States, 2.6 million of those live in Texas. This obviously makes the Lone Star State the ultimate destination for a hog hunter.
Hop in a rental car and drive to the ranch. Once at the ranch you will unpack and check the zero on your weapon, and hop in the stand for an evening/night hunt. You should plan on arriving at the ranch around 4:00 pm to have adequate time to prepare for an evening hunt.
The following day will consist of a morning and evening/night hunt, a good night’s sleep, and a morning hunt prior to heading back to the airport on your third day.
The ability to hunt well past dark really extends the hunting hours of this hunt. You will have no shortage of opportunities.
Season is year round and there is no one month that is better than the other. They are all excellent!
Texas has crazy weather and it can be freezing cold in December or blistering hot. Please check the weather for Caldwell, TX and pack accordingly.
Practice with your equipment prior to your hunt!
If you’re a rifle hunter, we recommend something larger than a .223 if possible with jacketed or soft point bullets.
Archery hunters must use fixed blade broadheads.
