western canada moose hunting in alberta

The Western Canadian moose is a subspecies of moose that inhabits Boreal forests and mixed deciduous forests in western Canadian provinces. It is the second largest North American subspecies of moose, second to the Alaskan/Yukon moose.

Your moose hunt will be based from the Outfitters’ lodge where you will leave each morning by boat, argo, or truck. This type of hunt is usually less physical. This is a rut hunt meaning it works well to call the moose out of the brush and close the distance especially down to the water’s edge.

Limited hunts in November are also available and can be combined with whitetail in the rut, please contact us for specific dates and availability.

  • Hunters leave the lodge in the morning with a guide via truck or boat and hunt the lake, rivers or road system and cuts. Calling is the main form of hunting.
  • This is not an overly physical hunt, short walks, flat ground for the most part. Returning to the lodge each night is a nice bonus compared to most moose hunt scenarios in western Canada.
  • They have been 80+% successful on bulls in the 40″ plus range.
