They pride themselves on hunting to the highest standards and ethics.

The Sofala province of Mozambique is huge, and habitat ranges from Miombo woodland to open grassland savannas and floodplains. Our PH runs a number of concessions in this province, and you will probably travel between them during your safari. There is also a nearby forest concession that has great numbers of most of the tiny 10 and exceptional free-range nyala.

  • Hunting will be done by finding a big bull track in a dry river bed and then tracking him sometimes for many hours.
  • The safari vehicle is sometimes used to locate tracks, but all hunting is done on foot.
  • Hunts are guided 1:1, plus trackers.
  • You can expect to hunt good, old, hard-bossed bulls (Dugga Boys).

Leopard on bait during the day
Leopard hunting is typically a nighttime affair, however in remote areas such as Mozambique, they often come in during daylight.

Leopard Hunting

Leopard Safaris are 16 Day Combos with Buffalo and Sable, 14 Day Combos with Buffalo, or 14 Day Plains Game Combos.

Leopard hunting in Mozambique will take you back 100 years to a simpler time. Leopards are among the most sought-after trophies, but also the hardest to obtain. This remote, traditional hunt in Mozambique will give you a great opportunity to hunt a trophy leopard.

Leopard hunting is done over bait. Usually bait will be a baboons or plains game animals from one of the previous hunts. Proper pre-baiting will be done before you even arrive in camp. The ideal situation is for you to arrive and already have the baits being hit. Trail cams are used to identify trophy leopards that are hitting the bait.

  • June through November
  • You’ll be hunting in the Tete province near the world famous Lake Cahora Bassa.
  • Hunting is done over bait from a hide.
  • Run from any outfitter who guarantees a leopard. They are too wary, and there are too many variables, but success is likely…in fact, our PH, so far does have a 100% success rate on leopards in Mozambique. This leopard hunt is as close to a slam dunk as you can get.
  • Safari can also be extended if needed.
  • There are some huge leopards in this area.
  • Once you have taken your leopard, there are some species of plains game hippos and crocodiles. Lake Cahora Bassa is well known for its trophy crocodiles.

African Lion Hunting Safaris in Mozambique

Lion Hunting

Lion Safaris are 21 Days

Lion hunting safaris in Mozambique are typically done over bait. Usually bait will be a cape buffalo or plains game animal from one of the previous hunts. A lion hunt almost always follows directly behind a buffalo hunt so that lions can be pre-baited before you even arrive in camp. The ideal situation is for you to arrive and already have the baits being hit. Calling is sometimes used as well. Electric, remote callers can be very effective in some situations. Trail cams are used to identify trophy males that are hitting the bait. Hunts are guided 1:1, plus trackers.

Once you have taken your lion, there are cape buffalo as well as many species of plains game to hunt on a trophy fee basis. Species include Roosevelt Sable; Livingstone Eland; Lichtenstein Hartebeest; and Niassa Wildebeest.

  • Lion hunting is typically done over bait, but you may do some calling or walk and stalk hunting.
  • Success is never guaranteed, but it is likely.
  • You can expect to hunt old, mature male lions that are a minimum of 5 to 6 years old.
  • Hunts are 21 days, but your safari can also be extended if necessary to ensure that you get your trophy.
  • *Only two lions are taken here yearly.

Hippo Hunting Safaris in Mozambique

Hippo and Crocodile Hunting

Hippo, Crocodile Safaris are 10 Days

This is usually a hunt from a hide (blind) for both the hippos and the big crocs. The outfitter pre-scouts to find the big ones and where they are spending their time, then they will set up a hide on that location for your hunt. This concession in the Tete province near the famous Lake Cahora Bassa is ideal for big leopards, hippos, giant crocodiles and some plains game species.

Typically you will hunt the hippo first, as hippo makes very good bait for big crocs. Patience is key, you might sit for one hour or you might sit for six days waiting for the right animals to give you the right opportunity. When that trophy hippo or croc shows up it is time to get your game face on.

This hunt requires precision marksmanship, so make sure you are getting plenty of range time in as you need to hit a spot the size of an orange. But don’t worry, it doesn’t require huge calibers, a 7mm you can shoot well will do the trick. This is your chance to hunt an actual prehistoric animal, when it comes to giant crocodile, and even more they are the only dangerous game animal that sees you as food.

  • 10 day safari
  • Guided 1-on-1, plus trackers
  • March-November
  • Hunt big mature bull hippos, and 13ft crocs on average
  • 100% shot opportunity
