South Africa Wingshooting #OI-DWHS2

High volume dove and pigeon shooting in South Africa

HUNT #OI-DWHS2

Bird hunting in South Africa

Come experience some of the best bird hunting in South Africa. This bird hunt is based in the Limpopo province of South Africa near the agricultural farms.

We hunt numerous bird species including doves, pigeons, francolin and guinea fowl. You can expect to do high volume shooting everyday especially when it is the sunflower harvesting season. We also like to mix up the pigeon shooting a bit by walking the grass fields next to the crop fields and flushing some francolin and guinea fowls. Conveniently located only 2.5 hours drive north from Johannesburg International airport.

Guides

Depends on how big the group will determine the amount of PH required but one PH will handle more or less 3 clients. Ph’s and staff will do all collecting of birds.

Typical Daily Schedule

The day will start out with an early breakfast before sunrise and then we will head out hunting as soon as it starts getting light. Depends if we have to drive a bit further to the hunting area we might get up a bit earlier. Once we reach our destination we will set up a few stands next to the sunflower fields for each shooter, there will be a lot of pigeons passing on their way to the fields.

Usually we will have a break during midday and have a lunchbox that has been pre-made for us, or even a BBQ right there. After lunch, we’ll continue hunting. The birds tend to get more active as it cools down. Sometimes we will mix it up a bit and go for a walk when it cooled down and flush some francolines and guinea fowl. Just before dark we will pack up and head back to the lodge for a few drinks and relaxing time around the camp fire and have supper then.
