Remote, Cabin-based Alberta Moose Hunt

This Alberta outfitter has produced several B&C Western Canada moose over the years.

This is a great hunt where you will be moose hunting in Alberta, Canada from a remote camp accessed via Argos (possibly snow machines if there is snow). Although they are remote, the camps are modern with hot showers, cooks and camp helpers. Early season rut hunts are concentrated near lakes and creeks with calling being the preferred method.

  • Mid September through November.
  • Comfortable camps on the river.
  • Up to 2-4 hunters per camp. 1×1 guide or 2×1 guide.
  • Average bull size is 40 to 50 inches, but occasionally there is an opportunity at an Western Canada moose in the 55 inch range.
  • 90-95% opportunity rate.
  • Black bear can be added for a nominal fee and a wolf tag is encouraged. No fee for a wolf. There are pike in the river that can be fished after your hunt is complete.
  • Wolf and fishing licenses are included.

Travel Information

BEST option is drive to Peace River and stay the night in a hotel.

Meet in town the evening before and then get tags etc. Then head out to the log road via pick up and then 5 hour Argo into camp.

If choosing to fly in to Edmonton or Grand Prairie.

Then you will rent a vehicle and drive 2.5-3 hours to Peace River where you meet the outfitter.

Meat Transport

For transporting meat back home they field dress then will get out to the processor in town after a few days of hanging if time allows. On your way home you can pick it up and it will be frozen for travel home. The charge is approx. $1 Canadian per pound.
