Outdoors International TRIP #OI-AKFW1

Bering River Silver Salmon Safari

Remote Alaskan fly-in adventure with world-class fishing and waterfowl hunting.

This is one of those trips where the journey itself is half the adventure. Flying in on a float plane from Cordova, the anticipation builds as you soar over the wild Alaskan landscape. When that plane touches down on the Bering River, you know you’re in for something special. The fishing here at this amazing Alaska destination? Well, let’s just say there are days when the silvers are biting so fast, you’ll limit out in under an hour. Fly or spin, it’s your call. And if you’re into waterfowl hunting, this place is a paradise with everything from puddle ducks to geese. It’s a cast and blast like no other, with the added comfort of a glamping-style tent camp and meals that redefine “wilderness dining.” But remember, Mother Nature has her own plans, and sometimes the fish just aren’t in the mood. That’s fishing. Still, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of the chase in a place this raw and beautiful.

You’ll start your day with a hot cup of coffee and some stunning views. After breakfast, you decide how you want to spend your day, whether it’s fishing for salmon, hunting ducks, or just soaking in the wildlife. Evenings are for winding down with a hot shower, a hearty meal, and some campfire stories.

Fly into Cordova, Alaska on Flight 61 or 66 the day before your float plane takes you to the Bering River camp. You’ll leave Saturday morning, weather permitting. Same float plane brings you back to Cordova to catch your departing flight.

You’ll be staying in spacious, heated wall tents with all the modern comforts you’d want in the Alaskan wilderness. There’s a heated dining tent, a fire pit area, a shower tent with hot water, and even a hot tub. It’s remote, but you’re not roughing it.

Alaskan weather can be unpredictable—cool and wet most likely. Layered clothing and quality rain gear are essential. Don’t underestimate how cold and wet it might get.

These are seasoned pros who know the Bering River like the back of their hands. They’ll help with everything from setting up your gear to cleaning your catch. You’re in good hands.

Fishing can be phenomenal, with groups often limiting out on silver salmon in under an hour. Waterfowl hunting is solid too, with a good variety of ducks and geese.

You’ll need to purchase Alaska fishing and hunting licenses. Get these sorted before you arrive to avoid any hassles.

While it’s not a hardcore trek, being in decent shape will make your experience more enjoyable. Be prepared for some walking and standing in potentially cold and wet conditions.

Your options are August and September, which offer great conditions for both fishing and hunting.

Pricing varies depending on options and availability. It’s always best to check the trip overview or talk to your consultant directly.

I didn't think an experience like this was possible.

This trip, was, for me at least not just a trip, for me it was a real adventure, a real experience. I love the wilderness and this trip afforded me the opportunity to connect with the Alaskan wilderness in ways very few people do. It was an experience I will never forgot in a place I can’t wait to get back to.

The outfitter handled everything perfectly.

We were thankful that Outdoors International hooked us up with a great outfitter because they were able to find us an acceptable alternate on short notice. Overall the two year process to get this float in was seamless and worry free. Just like it should be.

Thank you, Stan Masneri

What an amazing experience!

The lodge was out of this world! Our rooms, the delicious food, the incredible wildlife and the scenery were amazing. Our photo safari guide was truly exceptional and had us on animals almost constantly. We saw over 30 different species and had some incredible up close experiences. Africa is amazing!
