Overview

This is one of those rare wilderness experiences where the journey itself is half the adventure. You’ll board a float plane in Cordova, Alaska and soar over a vast, untamed landscape before touching down on the Bering River — one of Alaska’s most remarkable remote destinations. What awaits you is a true cast and blast: world-class silver salmon fishing combined with outstanding waterfowl hunting, all set against the backdrop of raw Alaskan wilderness.

Target Species

• Silver Salmon (Coho) — The star of the show. On the best days, groups have been known to limit out in under an hour. That said, fishing is fishing, and conditions vary — Mother Nature always has the final word.
• Rainbow Trout — A prized bonus species in these productive Alaskan waters.
• Rockfish — An additional opportunity in the broader Cordova region.
• Ducks — The Bering River corridor is a waterfowl paradise, offering excellent variety including puddle ducks of multiple species.
• Geese — Solid goose hunting rounds out the waterfowl experience and makes this a true cast and blast adventure.

Fishing Methods

• Fly Fishing — The Bering River is ideal fly fishing water, and your guides are fully equipped to help you make the most of it regardless of your experience level.
• Conventional (Spin) Fishing — Equally productive and a great option for those who prefer spinning gear. The choice is entirely yours.

Getting There

Fly into Cordova, Alaska — served by Flight 61 or Flight 66 — arriving the day before your float plane departure. On Saturday morning, weather permitting, your float plane will lift off from Cordova and deliver you directly to the Bering River camp. At the end of your trip, the same float plane returns you to Cordova in time to connect with your departing flight.

Note: Float plane departures are weather-dependent. Alaska’s weather is famously unpredictable, and your safety always comes first.

Camp & Accommodations

Don’t let the word “remote” fool you — this camp redefines what wilderness lodging can be. Our outfitter has built a genuinely comfortable basecamp designed to let you relax and recharge after full days in the field.

Licenses & Permits

All guests are responsible for obtaining their own valid Alaska fishing and hunting licenses prior to arrival. We strongly recommend taking care of this well in advance of your trip to avoid any last-minute complications. Our outfitter can point you in the right direction when you book.

What to Pack — Weather & Gear

Alaskan weather in August and September can shift quickly. Expect cool, wet conditions as the default and plan accordingly.

• Quality rain gear — This is non-negotiable. A good waterproof jacket and pants will define your comfort level.
• Layered clothing — Temperatures can swing significantly from morning to midday to evening. Layers give you flexibility.
• Waterproof boots or waders — You’ll be on and around the water constantly.
• Warm base layers — Even in August, mornings and evenings on the Bering River can be genuinely cold.
• Fishing and hunting gear — Your guide team will advise on specific tackle and loads; don’t underestimate the conditions.

Physical Requirements

This trip is not an extreme physical undertaking, but being in reasonable physical condition will meaningfully improve your experience. Expect some walking over varied terrain and extended periods of standing — both while fishing and while hunting.
