British Columbia Stone sheep hunting in the Spatsizi and Stikine areas offers a rare opportunity to pursue the distinct Stikine Niger Stone sheep, known for their unique dark coloration.
These elusive rams blend seamlessly into the black shale slides that dominate the rugged terrain of the Spatsizi range. With an impressive average ram age of 10 years, these hunts provide seasoned hunters the chance to target mature animals in various habitats, often near steep escape terrain. As the season opens on August 1, the sheep are typically found at high elevations, enjoying cool breezes, making August an ideal month for Stone sheep hunting, with favorable weather and long daylight hours. With limited quota tags and a high success rate spanning over 40 years, this challenging hunt requires excellent physical conditioning and determination.
Hunters gain access to multiple mountain ranges in pursuit of these majestic animals, making British Columbia Stone sheep hunting a memorable and rewarding experience in the heart of Canada’s wild landscapes.
